nice to meet you
In a few words, I am a London Boy living and working in Madrid and I love every moment of it. In 2007 I met my GF who is from Madrid back in the uk, and since then we have had three beautiful children, bought a flat in Madrid and have been living here ever since 2012. In all the years of living here, there has never been a boring day, there is always something to do in this city, another beautiful piece of architecture to see, a museum to visit, the city just has such a rich history that I wanted to share this with others.
I also spent 10 years of my younger life living in Cyprus,
where life is a lot calmer, rural where I was, and you get to appreciate the
smaller things in life a lot more. I loved nature, the way families are really
close and spend a lot of time together, everyone living close to their
relatives so most nights were spent outside playing with all the other kids
whilst all the parents sat their chattering.
Then when I was 15 I moved back to the UK, to London, and it was completely different. I am half English, so I do have family there, but they are all spread out over the city and the country, and also they are not as close as the other half of my family so it was not the same…
There also is not much nature in London, and people don’t have much of an interest in it I felt, it’s pretty grey, fast paced, known for raining all the time, so I really did miss my life in Cyprus, so the years go by, you grow up, get used to where you are, but I always wanted to get back to that type of life I had in Cyprus.
Then I met my GF when I was 21 years old, She is from Madrid, Spain, and after our first visit here, I never ever wanted to leave again. The culture here in Madrid was so different, people were happier, there was always a crowd of people on the street, all the bars had families sitting out on the terraces, every day was sunny, this was where I wanted to be, and it was only a couple hours away from London!
So after many trips to Madrid, a few years and three beautiful daughters later, we decided to buy a place over here in Madrid and move here permanently.
We live pretty close to the center of Madrid, and we take a walk there a couple of times a week, and I actually work in the center too, so I spend most of my time there, and over the years have got to know the city really well.
So whether you are a local or coming to Madrid on holiday, maybe even thinking of moving here, I want to share all the things I have done, and would like to do for you to be able to enjoy this beautiful city as much as we have.
