What are the best hotels close to plaza mayor

Here is a little more information on my top picks for the best hotels close to Plaza Mayor. I know exactly where each of these hotels are located, and can guarantee you that they are as close to the square as you can possibly get. Well, the first hotel I tell you about is actually on the square itself!

Pestaña Plaza Mayor Madrid

hotel in the center of madrid

So if you want to be really close to Plaza Mayor, you can stay directly on the square. The Pestaña Plaza Mayor Madrid makes up part of the square itself, and if you ask for a room facing the Plaza the view you get at night when the square is empty is quite something. The lights shining off the granite cobble stones make for a really nice picture, and whenever I am there late at night, I like to imagine all the things that have taken place, the names that have walked across that courtyard.

The hotel has a large library lounge, a terrace on the square and a rooftop terrace overlooking Plaza Mayor. The standard rooms feel colorful and bright, are very well decorated and you can feel the luxury in everything. The bathrooms are a little small in the standard rooms so if you can, upgrade to a higher category room or even a suite that comes with sofas and soaking tubs.

From the outside, you can’t really see, but Pestaña Plaza Mayor is actually quite large. There is plenty to do after you have your breakfast sitting in the open air indoor courtyard. You can visit the spa that includes an indoor pool, and if the weather is nice, you can take it to the roof where they have a roof-top pool with amazing views over the skyline. Once you have worked up an appetite, they also have a restaurant, but you have all the options for the best restaurants within minutes of the hotel.
