Brunching In Style – 27 Trendy spots for the best brunch in Madrid

27 PLACES TO EAT THE BEST BRUNCH IN MADRID

Where is the best brunch in Madrid? If you want to eat a good brunch in Madrid, you will find the best in the center. Specifically around the Malasaña neighborhood is where you will find a large concentration of Cafes that offer a brunch menu.

I remember when I first moved here around 2015, and brunch wasn’t really that popular a thing. I even remember some of my extended family over here having some not so polite words about the concept, but the brunch culture has come a long way since then.

Now in 2023 there are so many options to have brunch in Madrid, so many variations and no one could be happier than me. I tend to wake up pretty early, but if I ever wake up late and miss breakfast, I use that as a reason to go eat a big brunch.

I am sure there are more places in Madrid that offer a good brunch, but I want to go over a few places where I think are some of the best places to brunch in Madrid. Also, let me mention that the order of the list is not from best to worst, they are all amazing for what they offer.

1. Casa Suecia

Casa Suecia’s restaurant has its own in house bakery, is that not enough reason to go there! You already know how delicious freshly made bread and pastries are. They like to make a lot of their own food here, and this includes their very own fresh yoghurt, and if you time it right, you will finish at the right time to get yourself a nice cocktail and enjoy the view from the terrace.

Price: From € 30 if you buy here  Location: Calle del Marqués de Casa Riera, 4 (Sol-Chueca)

2. Marieta

Marieta’s brunch has fourteen components, fourteen! Apart from making me a little anxious in choosing what to start with, the number of things you get makes it one of the most copious brunches in Madrid, and you had better go hungry, because everything is delicious and you’ll want to wipe up the plate. If you can’t finish it, feel free to take me along with you, I’ll happily help you out.

Price: From €25 if you buy here  Location:Paseo de la Castellana, 44 (Chamberí)

3. Terraza de Colón

Madrid already has some of the most amazing restaurants and a great food culture, so when Brunch became a thing, they knew how to do it well from the start. Terraza Colón, for example, includes a welcome cocktail, savory dishes (such as Iberian ham or shrimp tabbouleh) and some sweet treats too (like fresh pastries & homemade yogurt). Depending on what you have planned for the rest of your day, you can choose between a mimosa or a natural juice.

Price: From €29.95 if you buy here  Location: Plaza de Colón (Salamanca)

4. Bibo de Dani Garcia

Dani García has restaurants all over Spain, and they also offer a very popular brunch in Madrid. The food is a bit more creative at BiBo Madrid, with dishes like oxtail brioche, prawns from Sánlucar and a sandwich with mortadella from Bologna. For dessert, a “nitro” ice cream, literally prepared with liquid nitrogen. The most striking thing about this place are the 7,000 lightbulbs that make it feel like a funfair.

5. Museo Chicote

This restaurant has been here since 1931, and Museo Chicote is the first cocktail bar to open in Spain and and holds a special place in the food culture of Madrid. The way to bring this art deco place to the present has been through its brunch. It begins with a tower platter of food and juices and ends with an open bar of mimosas starting at 1pm. This is a great option for a brunch in Madrid.

Price: From €29 if you buy here  Location: Paseo de la Castellana, 44 (Chamberí)

6. Diurno

This one is a favorite at the office. Their brunch is a pretty big one, with seventeen-items on the menu, a number of freshly squeezed juices and main courses (my fav being the eggs benedict) of incredible quality and for a great price. Looking for a gluten free brunch in Madrid, that´s what they specialize in here ate Sana Locura. This cafeteria has its own bakery and everything they make is suitable for celiacs. They don’t have a specific menu for brunch, but you can create your own with the amount of options they have. I wanted to make sure to include a good gluten free option for those that are intolerant but still want to enjoy a good brunch in Madrid.

9. Adorado

I work with a lot of people from Argentina, and that´s how I was introduces to one of the tastiest and best brunches in Madrid. The pastries they make here on site are so good, and there are a lot of things with Dulce de Leche, always a positive. Their breakfast sandwich is super tasty, and they serve brunch here all day long.

Price: From €12-15 Location: Calle Mesón de Paredes, 22 (Lavapiés)

10. Hard Rock Hotel Madrid

So if you have eaten at a Hard Rock before, you know it’s pretty hard to find somewhere that can offer you what the Hard Rock Hotel Madrid offers. To begin with, the restaurant is shaped like the inside of a Spanish guitar; and the brunch comes in the actual case of a guitar.

The menu is extensive, and you probably want to skip breakfast, and make it a late breakfast/early lunch. The brunch menu includes Iberian ham, smoked salmon, croissants, Manchego cheese, fruit, yogurt, and to top it off, tequeños, two bagels, poke, eggs benedict, or arepitas. Oh and the orange juice is on tap !

I know I said I wasn’t playing favourites, but this really is a candidate for the best brunch in Madrid.

15. Nomade Cafe

Anywhere that serves grilled halloumi is great in my book, and silly as it sounds, that’s what first drew me in to Nomade Café, but I have tried a lot more since that first time. They serve a French-style brunch here, hearty and homemade. The price for the brunch is so cheap it doesn’t seem fair. Delicious toast with poached egg, avocado and halloumi cheese. The feast is completed with coffee, juice, granola and a Bordeaux canelé but I chose the banana bread.

I brought someone here for a birthday once to try the house special, their pancakes. We got a bacon and egg pancake and a mixed berries pancake topped with Nutella and ice-cream, and it was so good.

They have a number of different options on their brunch menu, all very reasonable priced, so get something sweet and something savory, and their smoothies are really good too.

In the running to be the best brunch in Madrid, this place hold more a place in my memory for how fancy the plates were, and the the amazing cocktails menu. It wasn´t on the list, but they obliged and made me an Amaretto sour.

Ok bit of a sidetrack, we are here for the brunch, and they have more than one menu. They have seasonal brunch menus that cost a little more, but their everyday brunch menu is quite the experience.

It starts with the ¨Ice Table¨ that comes with an assortment fruits, and croissants, different types of bread, ham, jam, cheese, guacamole and salmon. This followed by a plate of eggs, and you choose from a number of ways to have them prepared, and the desserts are served in some of the coolest plates.

Yes, right in the middle Malasaña, again, is the Mercado de Barceló, a multi-space that has become an essential hang to have a drink and get some good food too. On its rooftop is the Forus Barceló, an amazing terrace that is great no matter the season.
