Gallery Hostel Madrid Review: The Perfect Stay in Madrid?
I Recently stayed at the Gallery Hostel in Madrid and was pleasantly surprised with this new Nordic style capsule living. At first, I was sceptical and did not think it would be the best experience, but decided to give it a try.
With the cost of hotels being so high at peak times of the year, I wanted to try a more budget version of accommodation in Madrid, and to say the least, it was a really good experience I want to share with you all.
Where Is the Gallery Hostel Situated?
The hostel is located just south of the Center across the Toledo Bridge. It’s actually a pleasant walk to the centre from here, you get to cross a lot of popular landmarks on the way.
Check-In Experience: First Impressions
Rooms: Comfort and Amenities

Facilities: What Does Gallery Hostel Madrid Offer?
The Gallery Hostel has a large open space with a kitchen when you enter, a lot of chairs and tables, all very clean, spacious and with a lot of natural light.
The rooms are set at the back on a ground floor, and the bathrooms are in a line at the far end of the hostel.
There were never too many people the whole time I was there, everyone was quiet and respectful, the kitchen was kep clean, the tables and chairs were all really comfortable. A perfect spot if you a remote worker and need to get a shift in.
Atmosphere: What’s the Vibe?
The overall vibe of Gallery Hostel was really relaxed. I met a few other travellers whilst there, couples, singles, people staying for a week or a day, business trips and everyone was really friendly.
At night there was no noise, everyone got into their cabins pretty early and were respectful about making any noise.
Even those that hung out in the common areas were really quiet, so I really did like how respectful everyone was.
Food and Drinks: Dining Options
The Gallery Hostel does not offer any food, but they do have a fully functioning kitchen. Theres a microwave, a stove, oven, toaster, coffee machine, everything you need to cook your own food.
Everything was working, very clean and you can tell the staff there do a lot to keep the place clean and tidy. So if you don´t want to eat out everyday you have the facilities to cook.
Cleanliness and Hygiene: Standards That Matter
Honestly, this is one of the cleanest Hostels in Madrid I have visited. The kitchen, common areas, locker room, bathrooms, everything was cleaned more than once per day and I never saw anything that made me think the hostel was not clean,
The Bathrooms we exceptionally clean, and this was becuase of the staff, but also the type of people that were staying at the hostel were also very cautions in leaving everything they used as they found it.
People would take their shoes off and wear slippers around the sleeping areas, no one was eating in their capsules, people would sweep up after themselves.
I would have to say a ten out of ten for hygiene at this hostel.
Staff and Service: Hospitality Matters
The staff are really friendly and helpful. They are all locals so they can also give you advice on thing to do and see around the city.
I was even a little late to check in and the person at the desk texted me to make sure I was going to turn up and waited an extra 15 minutes for me to show.
Overall, the experience was great and the staffs friendliness is a big reason I have chosen to stay here time and time again.
Value for Money: Was It Worth It?
In comparison to other hostels, it is great value for money. For a weeks stay I paid €130 and it was well worth the price.
If you rent a private room, in most Hostels in Madrid it will cost you €50 upwards. And if you choose a shared one, you still pay quite a hefty sum and do not have your own private space.
As long as you are ok with the capsule style living, it is more than worth the money.
Lets face it, you will not be spending too much time at home in a city like Madrid.
Pros and Cons of Gallery Hostel Madrid
- Pros: What stands out is the location of the hostel paired with the price, and also the cleanliness of the hostel. Is is also really close to all the major landmarks and activities you would want to see in Madrid.
- Cons: Honestly, I do not have anything negative to say about the hostel. Maybe not being used to the capsule style rooms took a day to get used to, but the experience really was positive overall.
Final Thoughts: Would You Stay at Gallery Hostel Madrid Again?
I would and have stayed at this hostel more than once. If you are in Madrid to travel and see the city, then you only really need a place to sleep and this is a perfect choice.
Close to everywhere, clean, has everything you need, luggage storage, large and clean bathrooms, great staff, just a great choice to stay in Madrid on a budget.
